Privacy.

We collect as little as we can, keep it only as long as we need it, and never sell it. This page says exactly what that means.

The short version

  • No advertising, no tracking cookies, no data sold or shared for marketing.
  • Visit statistics are counted without cookies and without storing your IP address.
  • What you send through a form is used to reply to you and to run the project you ask about.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you at any time.

When you visit

To know which pages are useful, the site records each page view: the page, the referring website or campaign, the country and city (from the network, not from your device), the type of device, browser and operating system, the language, the screen width, and loading-speed measurements.

To count visitors without following them, each visit gets a code made from a one-way hash of the date, a secret, your network address and browser details. The code changes every day and cannot be turned back into your address; the address itself is never stored. Your browser keeps one yes/no value (not an identifier) so we can tell new visitors from returning ones. We also count a few actions, such as pressing “Start a project”.

We do not set cookies on the public website. Staff who sign in to the admin area receive one secure session cookie.

When you write to us

When you send a project brief or a message, we keep what you wrote and the details you gave (name, organisation, role, email, phone and your answers), any files you attach, the page you sent it from, and the country and city of the connection. We use them to reply, to prepare a proposal and, if we work together, to run the project. We do not add you to a mailing list.

The same applies to email sent to our @kavod.et addresses: messages are stored so the team can read and answer them.

The AI helper and spam filtering

If you press “Help me describe it” on the project brief, the text you wrote is sent to an AI model that runs on Cloudflare’s network and rewrites it into a clear brief. Incoming messages may also be checked by an AI model to separate spam and sales pitches from real enquiries. We do not send this text to any other AI provider, and it is not used to train models.

Who processes the data

The website, its database, file storage, email handling, AI models and the security check that keeps automated spam out of the forms all run on Cloudflare, which acts as our processor. If a reply email cannot be sent through Cloudflare, it may be delivered by an email delivery service acting on our behalf. Nobody else receives your data unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Page views and actions: up to 400 days, then deleted automatically.
  • Loading-speed measurements: up to 180 days.
  • Briefs, messages and attachments: for as long as we are discussing or doing the work, and as long as business and tax records require after that.

Your rights

We handle personal data in line with Ethiopia’s Personal Data Protection Proclamation. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@kavod.et and we will answer within 30 days.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections, forms are protected against automated abuse, and access to enquiries is limited to named staff with two-step sign-in available. Found a security issue? Please tell security@kavod.et.
